The FEVA U16 team closed out their 2024-2025 season at the Emerald City Classic over Memorial Day weekend. The team faced fierce competition over the first two days, amassing a 3-3 record against teams from Washington, Oregon, and Canada.
But it was the third day that exemplified this team’s grit, with back-to-back three-set thrillers! After dropping the first set of the semifinals, the team rallied to win the second set 26-24 and then ended the match with a 16-14 win, thanks to a MASSIVE stuff block by #37 Anna! The finals match was won in a similar fashion, with a HUGE final swing by Malia, #8, to clinch the Bronze Division title.
Serving was a highlight of the weekend. Anna, #37, led the team with 17 aces, followed closely by Macy, #12, with 15 aces! Our big hitters for the weekend, Malia, #8, and Ava, #4, ended our rallies with huge hits, each registering 32 kills. Avery, #25, and Ande, #16, were a wall at the net with a combined 20 blocks!
Setters Sydney, #11, and Macy, #12, worked hard to keep our hitters in system with a combined 119 assists. Libero Natalie, #1, had a standout tournament with 97 digs. Supported by our defensive specialists, Sumner, #14, and Grace, #22, who chalked up another 60 digs, the team frustrated opposing hitters and created long and exciting rallies! This tournament was an excellent end to an even more impressive season! So proud of these young women and happy to take home some hardware for our FEVA family! Go FEVA!
