Piper Roelen

Piper has been coaching volleyball and other youth sports for over 25 years. This is his sixth year coaching with FEVA as an assistant coach and positional skills coach. He fell in love with coaching when he and his wife had the opportunity to run a varsity program at an underprivileged high school in the Denver area. Seeing the direct positive impacts coaching volleyball had on the female student athletes in that community has turned into a lifelong passion for helping young women he coaches gain self-confidence, personal strength, character, and integrity. Coach Piper believes strongly in the power of education, and he has earned a BS in Natural Science/Physics and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering. He also played men’s volleyball as a middle-blocker at WAZZU during grad school. He currently works as an environmental consultant, helping to clean up some of the largest contaminated sites in Washington. In his spare time, Coach Piper enjoys backpacking and skiing in the mountains, international travel, eating ethnic cuisine, walking with his dogs, Oakley and Rocca. Most of all, he loves spending quality time with his family.
